  • Pro-Racer Package Upg- Chip Version and Product Future Q's:

I know the product has more or less always had datalogging capability for EEC-V cars, and to get the chip version a typical user was looking at a $75 upgrade from those with the flasher version.

My situation is this. I own a 1995 GT in terrible need of tuning. I've just picked up the wonderful wideband kit by zeitronix, and now I am shopping for a tuning product. I already have a SCT 4 position chip, however the vehicle tunes on those positions perform worse than without the chip enabled.

While the PRP product seems like a great deal for EEC-V owners, it seems its almost penalized for EEC-IV users to be even considering it. We have to pay $75 more, don't get any datalogging capabilities. At the pricepoint of $575 its nearest competitor is the tweecer R/T in my case, which has the advantage of datalogging capability and would tie in well with the existing wideband.

I'm just looking for some information on why I should be looking into this product instead, I've been following the SCT product family since the company started, and every friend of mine who has inquired into tuning either has a flasher or chip now.

I understand the PRP product to be changing in the near future, however, I am looking soon to get the car uned so I can get back to enjoying it instead of having to do 30 things to keep it running.

So uhh yeah, can someone sell me on this thing?

the MSRP For an EEC-IV racer packge is $549, which does not include the chip. The reason it costs more than the XCAL2 upgrade is because it includes a chip burner, where the flash tool version is only a software "license".

We are coming out with a more featured chip that will have data logging in the future. I know that doesn't help you much now, but it's in the works at SCT.

Thanks for the answer, better late than never. At that price, I may consider it. When the new featured chips come out, will there be an offer to current users to upgrade to have those capabilities? I'm still teetering on it, but I do appreciate that I'm starting to get good info on this.

Are currnent Pro Racer EEC-IV (I have a 94 Lightning w/mass air) chip users able to upgrade to this? If so, how much would it be?

Just an update, [email protected] talked me into becoming a PRP owner. So we'll see how it works out for me.

Ryan, what ever happened to this?
This is exactly what the EEC 4 folks really really need!

What would it take to get "this ball back into motion"?

That was posted by Brian, when he was the general manager (i took over his posts when he choose to pursue another career). At one point we were pursuing a more advanced chip, at this time, i do not know where that project stands.

Problem there is, you cant run the tweecer with the SCT chip in place.
They both connect to the Jport.

I already considered that route and that's what I found out.
                  Sooooo.. back to square one.

Only way around it that I could see would be to get the SCT tune in a .bin file and load it into tweecer.

Or to use something like EECSucka to pull the SCT tune out of the processor save as a .bin THEN load it into tweecer.

Seems to me that is alot of "third party crap" intertwined which would be a severe PITA not to mention the expense.

There is a live datastream inside the EEC IV, as I can see it with the Snap-On MT2500 (red brick)..and other obd1 scanners can see and log the stream.

It'd be alot nicer and more convenient if we didn't have to turn to outside sources to wind up with a complete package.

Without datalogging, using SCT to tune EEC IV is like trying to "paint by numbers" in a closet with no light on.

I started out trying to paint a cactus and wound up with a nice picture of a kitten..?? HAHA

I know the answer to the question before I ask....

SCT wont supply a tune in a .bin file because then "all the other guys" could see what SCT has done with their tune files.

This I understand, which is why it'd be cool if SCT would "re-think" the school of thought that EEC-IV doesnt have the customer base to warrant such support.

So SCT customers wont have to try and mess with third party work arounds and might stumble into a grey area of SCT's intellectual property rights.

I'll keep wishing in one hand and "you know what" in the other though
                    ..HAHA

Thanks again Ryan for your time!

You have basically answered yourself, for the 94-95 cars the TwEECer RT should be considered the only option.

Would you know how to datalog using TweecerRT with a 4 bank SCT chip in place?
other than what I described previously?
which would be get a copy of SCT tune in a .bin file?
                        {as impossible as that sounds)

Think this may do the trick?

edit: They don't have a date when the next batch will be made, just FYI

                            SCTAdmin:SCT forums closed11-28-2007 until 12-30-2008

AM I understanding the forums are shut down until 2009??
                            from 11-28-07 thru 12-30-2008??

I thought it was a typo and we'd be back up and running at the end of 2007, guess not because the forums are all still closed down?
