just got a xcal3 with 3 custom tunes. My problem is I have larger then stock tires and want to recalibrate for them.I'm probably missing it but I can't find any place to switch tire sizes. does it have to be switched in a program them uploaded to the xcal3 or is there a function that lets me switch it without doing that??
speed costs, how fast do you want to go?

    RTFM, lol!

Read Page 6, then Page 7 - follow the procedure as stated. Pick the tune, change any of the desired (and enabled) User Adjustable Options you wish to modify (in your case, the tire size), then flash the vehicle.

I did rtfm! lol my xcal has 3 custom tunes no pre programmed ones It doesn't give the option to change anything before dl the tune thats why I'm asking how do I change it do I need to change it in live wire and down load it to my xcal

Well, Jay, assuming your X3 is at the current firmware revision, it appears as though whomever supplied you with your custom tuning did not enable any User Adjustments within your tunes. This would explain why no option to change them was presented (as they are with the canned tunes as shipped).

Your tuner guy can selectively enable/disable/restrict end-user adjustability, when the tuning is created, for each supported (specific to platform) vehicle feature (the details of same are also in that manual).

If those adjustments are enabled, the previous procedure will still apply - you do it just before flashing your chosen tune, as described. There is nothing you need to do external to the device.

I could be wrong, but seems to me that you need to contact the tuning supplier and get on their case. They can simply email you the same tunes with the features you want/need enabled, and you can use SCT's utilities to replace the tune files on your X3.

Be prepared for some negotiations here - some tuners restrict certain adjustments to avoid the onset of 'bonehead-itis'; to minimize the risk of grenading your vehicle - things like adding spark advance or removing fuel, for example.

Worst-case: the tuner dude does not enable any end-user features for whatever reason. Then, you'd need to ask him to do the changes for tire size at his end (embedded in the tunes), then email you the revised files. This is far-fetched, though, because tire size changes are not onerous from an end-user perspective.

Again - you need to make sure your unit is bug-free first by checking the firmware revision is current ( see the X3 downloads page).

This should work just like it does on an Xcal2, eh?

Just curious, but who supplied the device & tuning?

        Good luck.

My only question is which tuner did you go through, that they didnt ask for any/all mods current on your vehicle? (ie, tire size).

Not something u should have to mess with, unless you got the custom tunes and then changed your tire size. If thats the case, just call the tuner and tell him about your mod, then have him email you the updated tunes.

Yes - updated tunes with adjustability for tires & gearing changes, at the very least, Enabled.

Folks mod their vehicles - that's the whole purpose of having this functionality to begin with.

got a hold of the place I purchased it from,he is emailing me the same tunes that I have now but with the option to adjust things myself.Just a miscommunication mostly on my part we had discussed the bigger tires but when I ordered I forgot to mention them again. No biggy.
As for the xcal I love the difference it has made
